Small Groups

Life is better together.  Relationships matter.

These aren't just catchy sayings or cliches. These values drive us as body of Christ followers. We believe the Bible clearly teaches that life alongside fellow believers is crucial. In a time when isolation is the norm, small groups help us press into community and aid in our spiritual formation.

Our small group ministry provides a place where believers can grow in their relationship with the Lord while simultaneously growing in their relationship with one another. They help us know and be known.

All small groups at CBC meet on Sunday from 6:00pm-7:30pm in homes throughout our community!

Jonathan and Beth Dowty: Sermon Rewind

Sermon Rewind

Ever wanted to ask a question during the sermon? Join our small group as we share our thoughts and questions each week on the Sunday morning sermon. We'll reason together to understand the Biblical text more and work to apply the message to our daily lives. Missed the sermon? That's ok! The starting point is the Biblical text, and we'll review it together. So scribble some notes on the back of the bulletin and join us as we dive deeper into God's Word!

Zach & Riley Dugger: Ephesians (Closed)

Ephesians

The apostle Paul wrote Ephesians to the churches around Ephesus (Acts 19) to display the scope of God’s eternal plan for all humanity—for Jews and Gentiles alike. This is the mystery of God, hidden for ages but now made known in Jesus Christ. The first three chapters focus on what Christians should believe, unfolding the glorious riches of God’s grace in Christ. Dead sinners are made alive and gain eternal salvation “by grace … through faith” (2:8). The last three chapters explain the implications of God’s grace for the church, for individuals, and for families. This second section comes to a climax with a command to stand with the armor of God against the devil.

Ephesians gives a refresher course in New Testament doctrine and provides a practical blueprint for Christian behavior. Through this letter, Paul shows us our continual need for God's help and demonstrates that everything good we enjoy is an expression of His great love.

Stew & Gayleen Frederick: How to Study the Bible

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

If the Word of God is our ultimate authority and sufficient to guide and correct us in all things pertaining to life and godliness, then we ought to approach Scripture humbly and with intentionality.

Come and join Stew and Gayleen to learn about Bible study methods and how to apply the Word of God to your life.

Rick and Sharon Johnson: Transforming Prayer

Transforming Prayer

Praying Christians are hungry to learn how to connect with God in a way that takes them beyond the typical grocery-list approach. Transforming Prayer explores the profound difference between seeking God’s hand (what he does for people) and seeking God’s face (who he really is). With captivating stories of the transformative power of personal worship and its connection with prayer, this book equips readers with practical tools for a more effective personal and corporate prayer life.

Jacob Tanner: Financial Peace University

Financial Peace University

"Take control of your money with Financial Peace University! This class uses biblical wisdom and common sense to help you tackle budgeting, pay off debt, and make your money work for you!" My late wife, Jenny, and I used this program to get out of debt about a year before she passed away. It was a sure comfort to us that we didn't have credit card bills or car debt to worry about. We were able to take her to every specialist recommended and not worry about how we were going to pay for them. And, when she passed away I could quickly write a check for her final expenses because we had it in our emergency fund. This course is worth the $80 for the book and online accesses, but don't let $80 keep you from taking it. If cost is going to be an issue, I've already worked out several scholarships.
